CW Class Starting February 17th

Do you understand the morse code above?    Are you planning to build our February Tech Night Project and want to learn to use it?   Do you want to make more DX contacts?  Even though Morse Code proficiency is no longer required for your Ham Radio license, there is still more CW on the air than Phone and Digital modes combined. You don’t want to miss out on these contacts!

CW Class Starting February 17th

Thanks to our Morse Code Instructors, Mike, K1WVO, and Dennis, K1LGQ, we will be holding another CW Class.  The classes will start on February 17th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and will run for at least 6 weeks.  It will be held at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Nashua.    You will be able to practice copying CW as well as sending CW during the class.  Toward the end of the class, if you practice regularly, you will get on the air via a CW slow net or scheduled QSOs among the students.

The class will be geared to the needs of those attending, whether you are just learning or if you attended a previous class and hope to build up your speed.

Hope to see you at the class.  Plan to bring a notebook and pen or pencil to copy CW.

Fall 2017 License Classes Have Begun

We have started our fall 2017 license classes with the Technician License Class being held this weekend – September 30 – October 1 at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Nashua.  We have a large class – a total of 16 students!

We have a new instructor to add to the team, Abby, AB1BY.  The other instructors are Jamey, KC1ENX,  Aron, W1AKI, Wayne, AG1A, Brian, AB1ZO, and Fred, AB1OC.  Thanks to all instructors for the time and effort they put into this Club Activity.

License Class Demos

In addition to reviewing every question in the technician class pool, we provide many demos to show students what they can do with their technician class license.  We have a satellite station, an HF station and a UHF/VHF go kit set up for demos.

Next Classes

Our next classes will be the General Class, which will be held on November 4-5 and the Extra Class, which will be held on December 1-3.  More information on our classes can be found on our website.  Club members are invited to stop by and see what we are doing.

ARRL Rookie Roundup RTTY – The Results are in!

The ARRL Rookie Roundup RTTY contest results are in!  The N1FD multi-op team placed 1st in the Multi-Op Area 1 category.  We had the highest score in the contest by a landslide!   The contest was held on Sunday, August 20.  The final scores were just posted on the ARRL Website.

Congratulations to Aron, W1AKI, Tom, AB1NS, and Jim, K1BRM. They operated from AB1QB’s QTH in the ARRL Rookie Roundup RTTY on Sunday, August 20.  The rules for the contest now allow any licensed Ham who had never made a QSO in the RTTY mode to participate.

With coaching from Aron, W1AKI a veteran of several previous Rookie Roundups, all team members quickly picked up RTTY operating.  The team made a total of 66 contacts to 30 states and 1 DX, including one with club member Mike, AB1YK.

Next Rookie Roundup is CW

The next Rookie Roundup will be held on December 17 and the mode will be CW.  Rookies licensed in 2015, 2016 or 2017 are invited to participate.  Also, anyone who has not made a CW QSO can join us as well.
