Spring 2021 Ham Bootcamp

Are you a newly licensed Technician, or a General or Extra and have never been on the air or built a station?  Are you a prospective ham but would like to learn more about Amateur Radio activities?  Ham Bootcamp is the program for you.  We will be holding another online Ham Bootcamp on Saturday, April 24th, 2021.

Registration is open for the Nashua Area Radio Society’s Spring Ham Bootcamp.  Ham Bootcamp will be held online using Zoom web conferencing. Going online will allow us to help new Hams get on the air, in a safe way during the Coronavirus Pandemic.  This will also let us reach out to new Hams across the country.

Configuring Emails from Our Forums

We have recently added some new features related to our Forums and some members may be getting more emails from the website.  Here is some information on how you can control the emails that you receive that result from Forum Posts.

There are two types of emails associated with forum posts – Individual Emails are sent with each post or reply.  Digests, are sent periodically and contain all forum posts and replies since the last Digest that was sent.

By default, new Members and Internet Subscribers are setup to be subscribed to all forums.  If you are subscribed to a forum, you will receive an email for each new post or reply.

Limiting Individual Forum Emails

You can change which individual emails that you have signed up for by logging into the website and following the steps below.  You can also change the frequency that you receive digests.

  3. If you do not want to receive emails for every new post in a forum, you can click on the pink box with the X in it next to the Forum name to unsubscribe from that forum. We recommend you do not unsubscribe from the General Information Forum as that is where we send information about our meetings and events and those may be time-critical.  We also recommend that members do not unsubscribe from the Members Forum for the same reason.

Online Technician Class

We held our first Online Technician License Class and Exam Session on September 26th and 27th.  The Nashua Area Radio Society is holding all of our license classes online using Zoom conferencing this fall due to the pandemic.  We are also able to give the Technician Exam to our students at the end of our class.  This has also allowed us to provide our license classes and exams to students across the US.

The online technician class was a success!  All three students earned their Technician License.   We kept this class small as it was our first try at a remote video license exam.

Congratulations to new Hams and License Class Grads:

  • Heather Hunter
  • Barbara Smith
  • Chris Holjes

All three students are now either club members or internet subscribers.

We had a surprise visitor on Saturday afternoon of the class as Gordon West, WB6NOA, showed up on Zoom to provide some encouraging words to the prospective new Hams and instructors.

Thanks to our great team of instructors and volunteer examiners who helped to make the class and exam a success:

Our next class will be the General License class, scheduled for October 25th and 26th.  For more information including the link to register for a License Class see https://www.n1fd.org/amateur-radio-license-class/
