Poured Base for House Bracketed Tower[/caption]We poured the foundation for our new tower this morning. We spent some time with a level to make sure everything is level and plumb. The forms will come off after the cement cures for 24 hours or so.

Footing for House Bracketed Tower[/caption]Here’s a picture of the footing hole, rebar cage, and form. We’ve plumbed the first section of the tower and secured both the tower section and the rebar cage to the form. We’ve also added 6″ of crushed stone in the bottom of the hole to provide drainage for water that will flow down the tower legs. The legs are taped and are covered with about 4″ of stone to prevent wet cement from plugging up the legs and allowing standing water in the legs to accumulate and cause damage to the tower.
The building inspector will be here this morning to approve the footing and we’re planning to pour and finish the cement this afternoon.
Everyone is welcome to come by today and take a look. I will be around all day.
If you have an HT that you’d like help programming on Sunday, please let Anita know what make and model it is. We’ll try to have programming cables and software available to several popular HTs to help you get your radio programmed.
Hi Chris,
Burns is asking some good questions here. Can you say a little more about what you want to do better/more of with your next radio? Depending upon what you want to do, there might be a good path via some used gear.
Thanks for putting out the foxes Jamey! Wish I had time to chase them but ARRL cabinet meeting + 13 Colonies will keep me from the hunt this time.
Hope everyone has fun with the foxes!
Hi Craig,
Thanks for the great article. An excerpt along with a link will be published in the newsletter when it comes out. A link to your article also went on our Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as soon as you published it.
Hi Craig,
Could you post your article directly on our website? That way, folks (and Hams around the world) can see it. Here’s a link that explains how to do this –

Let me know if you’d like some “live” help.
Thank you for contributing!!!

HAB-3 Students Ready To Launch Their Balloon[/caption]We are raising funds to support a variety of STEM learning projects including High-Altitude Balloon projects, electronics learning projects, and license training for High School and Middle School students. We are also raising funds to allow us to purchase and maintain equipment to provide emergency communications and associated training in times of disaster.
June 15, 2018 at 9:40 am in reply to: The Nashua Area Radio Society is now a 501c(3) Non-Profit #46187Thank you, Burns. It turns out that most folks donate to charitable causes independent of the Tax implications.
The biggest benefit of becoming a 501c(3) is the matching contributions that many corporations offer only to 501c(3) public charities. An example of this is the Amazon Smiles program.
Also, several of the companies that our members work for (ex. Verizon) have matching programs for contributions that our members make to fundraising programs like our current one on GoFundMe. Some of these companies will also donate to NARS based upon the hours that their employees provide to help NARs with projects like our license classes, STEM training, etc.
