On Tuesday, March 5th, we held our March Meeting. In addition to a great program, we celebrated reaching 200 members and took a group picture!
200 Member Celebration Cake
11 of the students in our Technician License Class became members and that brought our total members to 205! To celebrate going over 200 members, we had a cake during the refreshments portion of the meeting.
Nashua Area Radio Society Group Photo
We have been invited by the ARRL to be a featured club in their booth, the ARRL Expo at the Dayton Hamvention this year. Our media team gathered all the club members at the meeting together for a group photo, which will be used to promote this event.
Speaker Joe Dzekevich, K1YOW
Our speaker was Joe Dzekevich, K1YOW, who gave a very interesting talk about 6 Meter Es Propagation. You can view a copy of his slides at the link below.
The Nashua Area Radio Society has been invited by the ARRL to be a spotlighted club in the ARRL Expo at the 2019 Dayton Hamvention®! The theme of this year’s Hamvention is “Mentoring the Next Generation” and the ARRL invited us to be part of their booth because of our focus on Education, new Ham Development, Mentoring, and Youth Outreach.
The Dayton Hamvention, now held at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, OH, is the largest Amateur Radio Convention in the world. You will see booths from just about any vendor you can imagine. There are also many educational forums on topics such as Contesting, Antennas, AMSAT, SDRs and much more! This year’s Hamvention will be held on May 17th – 19th.
ARRL Expo at Hamvention
We will be taking a group photo of our members at the March Meeting this Tuesday, March 5th. Please plan to attend the meeting so that you can be part of this photo!
If you would like to travel to Dayton to attend the Hamvention and would like to help staff the booth, please contact Anita, AB1QB at [email protected]or talk to me before or after the meeting on Tuesday.
Our Expo featured more than ten high-quality displays and hands-on activities which introduced young people to many aspects of Amateur Radio.

Our HF GOTA at Boxboro 2018 was a hit with many folks making their first HF contacts with us. We operated AB1OC-AB1QB’s station remotely via the Internet. We secured a the N1T special event callsign for Boxboro and we made over 150 contacts as N1T during the convention.

We did three presentations related to the activities at our Youth Expo in the forums at Boxboro. The most popular one was about the many youth outreach projects that the Nashua Area Radio Society is doing.
