Congratulations, John and to all of the new generals!!
If Acadia National Park counts as mobile that would be it. Although, I will remember the Bulgarian contact for quite awhile as I was very impressed that he came back to me. I probably would have just moved on and not have remembered the station I couldn’t hear earlier.
Your turn!
I had a great experience yesterday on my way to work. I heard a Bulgarian station (LZ303MA) and tried to make contact while mobile with my 20 meter hamstick and a lot of QSB. He called out to me and couldn’t get my full call after several attempts and told me to try a little later as he moved on to more calls. I kept listening and 10 minutes later I heard him make contact with another 1 station and then call “the Kilo Charlie 1 Echo station try now.” I called back to him and he got my call!
I’m new to ham radio, but this struck me as being very kind and very experienced to keep my call in mind and call out to me when he thought he could get my call sign. I love working mobile on my way to work – I don’t usually make more than 1-3 DX contacts, but it’s great fun trying! I also really love ham radio and it’s operators like this that keeps that great feeling going!
Fred,
I’m not seeing the attached .pdf. Not sure if you forgot to attach or if it’s my work computer.

This looks like such a fun project and a great youth (and older) activity! I would love to help out on this project!
Thanks for doing this Wayne! The kids had a lot of fun finding the fox yesterday!
Hi Anita,
Abby and I would love to do the Rookie Roundup. We would like to sign up for the 2:00 pm prep session on Saturday.

Should we RSVP for the class or just show up? Abby and I are coming and my son, Connor (15), would like to attend.

Hi Fred,
I’m very happy with the Elk antenna, although I don’t have anything to really compare it to, it seemed to have done a great job for our SOTA outing!
I’d be happy to post this on the blog as well. I may need a little help in how to do that, but I’ll see if I can figure it out and if not I’ll let you know.

I want to echo Brian’s comments. I went into this weekend just wanting to understand more of the information I was studying. I didn’t really think I had a shot of passing the exam. By Saturday night I was feeling cautiously optimistic that I might have a shot at passing with some luck. On Sunday, after many “extra” hours of studying I passed the exam! I give all the credit to Aron, Fred, Anita, Wayne, Dave, Skip and Anthony (I hope I didn’t forget any of the instructors)! I could not have passed this exam without their help – an I’m not exaggerating when I say that. Also, special thanks to Merle for keeping everyone on time and keeping us fed!
Thank you so much for all your hard work and preparation to put on the class! I really is appreciated!
Jamey (KC1ENX/AE)!
