After several rainy days, the weather is looking much better for our NARS Picnic and Parks on the Air gathering this Saturday, August 1st, at Silver Lake State Park in Hollis, New Hampshire.
The forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-80s with a mix of sun and clouds—perfect weather for getting outside, spending time with fellow NARS members, and putting a park on the air!
We will begin gathering at 10:00 a.m. Bring your family, a chair, and your favorite picnic food or a dish to share. We will have POTA radio equipment available, so you do not need to bring a station to participate. Members who have their own portable radios, antennas, batteries, or other POTA gear are encouraged to bring them along and set up in the park.
Whether you are an experienced POTA activator, would like to try making your first park contact, or simply want to relax and enjoy the picnic, there will be something for everyone. Newer members can see how a portable station is assembled, learn about operating away from home, and get help making contacts.
Please sign up to bring a dish – entree, side dish, dessert, drinks – all are welcome. You can sign up in the sheet at this link.
Come enjoy:
- Parks on the Air operating
- Portable radios and antennas
- Good food and conversation
- A beautiful lakeside setting
- Time with NARS members, friends, and families
After all the recent rain, this will be a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy a summer day together.
Good weather, good friends, and good radio—we hope to see you at Silver Lake State Park this Saturday!
