Fred, please pass this on to your club & FD team…
I was FD chairman of the Huntsville (Alabama) Amateur Radio Club K4BFT’s effort last year.  We operate from a field in front of the Marriott Hotel / US Space & Rocket Center.  Two weeks before last year’s FD we were approached by the Director of Education of the Rocket Center who wanted to rotate about 100 middle-school STEM teachers through our site as part of their summer curriculum. Our GOTA station did a lot of traffic with them in the chair, in fact QST ran a photo of our station in last year’s FD scores article with a group of teachers surrounding the operator.  Our club has placed 1st in 4A the past four years so we do things as seriously as your club.
I want to commend your club for publishing such a great photo essay capturing the details of raising your new 60′ tower.  You make it look easy but anyone having done something similar knows how much work it is to plan and execute it safely.  Likewise your details on other pages describing your site’s networking and capabilities is inspiration to other clubs hoping to do Field Day in a big way.

I will share that our club uses a trailer-mounted crank-up tower as a crane to lift (from the 33′ point) four 50′ Rohn 25G towers, some with directional with antennas pre-installed. Then the trailer-mounted crank-up is used as the 5th tower for GOTA.  We start at dawn Friday morning with measuring the tower / guy locations and marking with spray paint.  It’s a lot of work to have all four towers up by dusk.
Bravo gentlemen for doing Field Day on a grand scale AND for making your efforts visible to others.
