ISS SSTV Event Now Until January 1st

ARISS SSTV is currently on the air until 18:20 UTC on January 1st.  The ISS SSTV event is in memory of cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.

Here is an image that we captured on 12/29.  The images will be sent continuously by the ISS and can be received during ISS passes over our area.  You can find out the passes over your area by entering your grid square and elevation and choosing ISS at the following website: https://www.amsat.org/track/index.php

Field Day Results 2019 – N1FD is Number One Field Day!

The  ARRL Field Day 2019 results are in and our N1FD entry placed Number 1 in the 11A category!  We also placed #15 overall with a final score of 12,688.

This was a huge improvement from Field Day 2018, where we placed #2 in Category 10A with a score of 9,620 and placed #46 overall.

Ham Bootcamp Session 1 Recap

We held our first session of Fall 2019 Ham Bootcamp on Saturday October 26th.  Ham Bootcamp is a series of programs to help new or inactive Hams to gain the skills to get on the air.  This session was held at Fred, AB1OC’s and Anita, AB1QB’s QTH.  We  focused on activities for amateurs with Technician Licenses.

Our first activity was HT Programming.  A few attendees brought their HTs and Fred, AB1OC programmed them with local repeaters.

We did a practice repeater net, similar to the Nashua Area Radio Society weekly repeater net that we hold on Sunday evenings.

Next, Fred, AB1OC gave the Boot-campers a tour of his Antenna farm . Fred spoke about  the design of his antenna farm including HF, VHF and Satellite antennas, grounding and shack entries.

After the antenna tour, we went inside and toured Fred and Anita’s shack.  We had  a pizza lunch followed by operating satellites.

Our next ham bootcamp session will be held on Saturday November 9th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

We will focus on General class activities;

    • How to set up your 1st HF station
    • HF Operating
    • Digital Operating
    • Ground Plane Antenna Kit
