I set up the A-Frame so the signs are all set up.
The Lawn signs need to be set up when you put them where they go along the road.
I still need to know who and where to leave the signs off.
Thanks,
Tony

I have the signs now, I only need to put the A-Frame sign together which will not take too long.
I need to know where to deliver the signs since I won’t be able to make field day this year.
It might be doubtful if I can make it to Nashua for the meeting on Monday. We might have a plant deployment that day which would require me to be available online.
Please let me know. It will be easier if I can deliver them somewhere this weekend but if it that’s not possible we can figure out something for the during the week.
Thanks,
Tony
June 4, 2018 at 6:32 pm in reply to: Does coiling LMR400 affect the SWR of the Antenna System #43994Yes, Hamilton I think you might be onto something. Tonight I came back and wound the excess cable into a loose into about an 8″ minimum. Also the way I had done it over the weekend the coil was off the ground so putting pressure on the Connector on the Balun. Tonight I put the cable on the ground and and and left the cable so there was no pressure and I am getting SWR of 1.2-1.6 at 40m and 1.5-1.4 80m…20m is the same as 80m so it looks good.
I might go and get a shorter length (25′) of LMR400 and see if that makes things better (after I measure the wire on the ground) as in less cable on the ground.
Thanks to both you and Fred for your quick help on this.

Yes, the coil was near one of the connectors so perhaps that is the problem.
Yes, there is a balun on the Antenna.
I will try as you say to try doing the SWR into a dummy load with the coil but might have to wait till the weekend till I can drop the Antenna again.
I’m pretty sure that the connections are all solid but will verify that as well.

Thanks that would be great. What day and time are good for you and I will make myself available?
Probably best to try 40m and once we get that working try out 80m. I will find the cable for the Heil with the capacitor in it, but pretty sure it was working better without the capacitor.
As far as frequency, maybe we can start out at something like 7.140 and if that frequency isn’t available or you can’t hear me just use our cell phones to figure out what to do next.
Thanks for your help on this,
Tony
August 6, 2017 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Question about something that was said today and I think it was my transmission #22809Thanks Fred…Yes definitely correct sideband and mode (the radio kind of figures that out and I don’t change it).
I did try using the old microphone (not the one with the Heil microphone). I am running the Heil with the cable without the cap because I believe the version of the Heil headset that I have doesn’t need it. It worked better without it anyway. I didn’t get any response from the person on the other end but at the point I think he was in a pileup so either ignoring the bad transmission or just not hearing it.
Any hints as to how I could help to further isolate where the problem might be?
Thanks,
Anthony
August 5, 2017 at 7:06 pm in reply to: Question about acceptable methods of hanging an antenna #22536OK, thanks Hamiltion for the tip…I think I was looking at the cheaper stuff because $136 for rope might have freaked me out.
I was going to go to HRO today but I never made it. I think I was looking at the 3/16 rope which is 4.76 mm. Does that sound abour right?
Thanks,
Tony
August 2, 2017 at 2:14 am in reply to: Question about acceptable methods of hanging an antenna #22064Thanks, Fred. It seems like the 3 mm dacron rope only will hold about 420 lbs and the same thickness of Mastrant holds about twice that. That being said, the dacron is a lot cheaper. I’m not that concerned about the weight of the balun and stuff but it has to be able to support the force when I am raising it. That being said, the dacron is a lot cheaper and I think I can pick it up at HRO for a little cheaper, so will probably go with 3/32″ (4.7 mm) of the dacron and see how that works out.
August 2, 2017 at 1:56 am in reply to: Question about acceptable methods of hanging an antenna #22062Thanks Vernon…Yes, I tried the slingshot with a small weight but I seem to not be able to get the thing to work, so it was easier for me to throw it over the branch…
