Matt,
Glad you enjoyed the contact! I watched the livestream since I was on a call for work at the same time and it was a great contact. The students were able to ask all 20 questions, and then the teacher asked the question about whether she was a Red Sox fan and then the Ham who was hosting the contact asked her another question.
It is easy to listen on the air and amazing to hear an astronaut coming in on your own station. I remember a couple of years ago, Fred was a mentor for a contact in New Jersey and I was driving home from an appointment in the F150 when the contact happened. I heard the astronaut loud and clear – even a little past when they heard him in NJ since our LOS was a few seconds later.

Update: Today’s ISS Contact will begin at 12:22 pm Eastern Time (not 12:27 as posted in the above article).
Jim,
The ARRL website has some pages with information about operating internationally. Looks like Brazil is part of the IARP. You most likely will need a permit. You can start at http://www.arrl.org/us-amateurs-operating-overseas and browse the links and other pages in that section of the website for more information.

This Tuesday’s Tech Night is all about QSLing and Awards. (7pm ET – link is on the main N1FD.org page)
Bring your tips, questions, and memorable QSLs or any awards you want to show off and I’ll reserve some time at the end for an interactive session.
If you can let me know what you want to share, I’ll make sure I reserve enough time at the end. Either reply here or email me at [email protected].
