We will be migrating our website to new servers sometime this morning. We recommend that you do not create any new content (i.e. Blog posts, forum topics or replies, comments, etc.) until the migration is complete. We will post here as soon as the migration is done and n1fd.org is stable.
We are continuing to apply small improvements and cleanups in preparation for moving our site to a new set of higher scale servers. We are mostly looking for anything that may have “broken” as part of our recent changes.
If you see anything that appears to have been broken, please email us at [email protected]. Be sure to include the URL that you had a problem with as well as the details on what happened and how you got to the page/content where the problem occurred.
February 7, 2021 at 8:28 am in reply to: ARISS Contact Friday February 5th Will Be Heard Over New England #112186Thank you Hamilton and Mike for listening and watching the youTube feed. We have another contact coming up with Bishop Guertin H.S. here in Nashua, NH the week after next. I hope to have the final date and time for that one in the next day or two. I’ll post it when we do.
February 6, 2021 at 9:35 am in reply to: ARISS Contact Friday February 5th Will Be Heard Over New England #112106Hello Everyone,
The contact between the Ottawa Carleton District in Ottawa, ON, Canada, and Mike Hopkins KF5LJG, an astronaut on the ISS went well yesterday. I had the privilege of serving as the Ground Station for this contact; creating a radio link between the students asking questions and the ISS. All 17 students were able to ask their questions and receive answers from Mike.
You can watch a video of the contact here.
Hello Ryan,
I don’t know the details of what is required – just relay what we are hearing from the folks who run the repeater system. We did confirm that EchoLink from PC clients (ie a Windows PC) does work fine.
Hello Collin,
You’d need good 10m propagation to reach 400 mi. This would probably be possible at the peak of the sunspot cycle during the daytime but it’s probably not reliably possible given the conditions that exist right now.
WFD logs should not be posted here. Please send them directly to Craig. Thanks everyone.
See the following from Fred Hopengarten, our ARRL Division Leader. Please email your information directly to Fred. His email address is included at the end.
The hearing on the NH HB 313 bill yesterday made it plain that I should collect NH Covenants from people who live in HOA communities or condos.
Can you put out a request for a PDF or Word version of CC&Rs from NH? I need as many as possible, to show the Committee how ridiculous they can be.
Here’s one excerpt I saw yesterday (but I want complete versions):
“4. Transmission antennas are prohibited.”
Think about that. It bans cell phones, baby monitors, garage door openers, and 2 m HTs!
Can you help me round up some CC&Rs from NH?

781.259.0088, [email protected]Thank you for posting this Dave. I have used the link that you provided to indicate my support for this important bill. Anita had done the same.
Hello Duane,
Thanks for posting your question. Can you say a little more about how you want to use an SDR dongle in your station? What bands would it be used on and what are your use cases for it?
