Ach!  I did that by “accident” yesterday and did not consider it a solution, so I went back to AB1NS.

      Thanks.

See you at Nearfest next Friday.

The question is singular, but I had a very good morning back in April 2013, when I lived in Merrimack. I had gotten up very early (for me) because my XYL was leaving for some task. So, there I was, wide awake, I went into my shack and fired up my ICOM756 and started tuning around. I heard a contact ending on 20M. It was between an operator in western Australia and New Zealand. I jumped in after the sign off and the Aussie came back from Perth. “Your not moving my needle mate, but I can hear you.” He gave me a signal report (5/9) from 11.550 miles away! I started tuning around some more and 25 minutes later contacted an operator in Darwin. “Do you know where Darwin Is??” I replied in the affirmative and told him That I had stopped in Darwin on my R&R flight from Saigon to Sydney! Think I surprised him as There was a long pause before he came back. Obviously great propagation that day.

          Marty,

Thanks for coming back to me. I chose the length based on a couple of articles I found on line and a small yard About 120′ long, but large trees on both ends. I have an LDG AT-200ProII tuner. Just trying to make sure I’m on the right track.

Went to this week’s House Record and copied the Majority explanation for the action on the bill. Must have been a heck of a hearing. AS you can detect, there are many aspects at work on this. The Minority may submit their rationale between now and the 16th.

Before moving to Maine I testified many times before legislative committees. If you are uncomfortable with calling, you can submit written comments via committee e-mail or House member e-mail. Please include your name and address. The committees are very diligent about including all written comments received into the record.

I’ve been getting conversations on 60M, usually in the morning, I also have been having problems tuning 10, 20 and 40 meters on FT8. My tuner sounds like its in extremis, clicking, then grinding then chattering. That has cut me off from computer control as I cannot stop the tuning process through ft8 button. shuts down my second monitor; unplugged the tuner from the radio, turned off the tune step and reload FT8. Finally substituted my Z11ProII and problem went away. At-200 now boxed and ready to return to LDG for service. Must be the week for FT8 excitement.

I kno2w that this is about RF, but the comment about shutting down power from the grid raises another issue. When this was hot 5/6 years ago, I was talking to the fire chief in Merrimack. He was telling me that, at that time, they could not send anyone into a house to respond until the utility came out and cut off the power to the street. He also said there were issues with access to the roof and many towns were altering their building codes to require a margin around the perimeter of the roof so that personnel could get on the roof to deal with the situation. I’ve been out of that loop for 4 years, so I have no idea if the codes/utility procedures have changed. Just something else to be aware of. Another issue was the local property tax deduction. The law permitted towns and cities to grant exemptions, but not required. The vendors did not train their sales forces on the distinction. If the circumstances have changes, just ignore this.

Check your Connectors settings on screen 2/4 DATA OFF MOD set to MIC and DATA MOD screen 3/4 set to USB.

Developers of properties with HOA’s are required by state law to develop CC&R’s and I believe they are required to file them with, probably, the Secretary of State’s office. (A lot of weasel words in here, since I haven’t looked at the statute in years.) That could be another resource if someone has the time.

Since this was a virtual hearing there may be an electronic record somewhere on the House web site. Some committees have been recording their hearings for a few years. So you might be able to see/hear the testimony and committee questions.

I now live in Maine, so I’m out of the NH process. However, I testified on the original bill when introduced a couple of years ago. That bill was very similar to the bill before Congress at the time. I still urged support for the original bill on the basis that it was a start and you have to use and MAINTAIN your skills and equipment to maximize your effectiveness in an emergency.

I took a look at the current language in the bill. It is superior and more comprehensive than the original bill. My compliments to the sponsor and Fred for their work on this.

Randall reported a another meeting in about a month which usually means that the committee will undertake further sub-committee work on the language before the executive meeting when the full committee will vote to: Pass, Pass with Amendment, Inexpedient to Legislate (ITL), or Interim Study.

You can still indicate your support for the bill after the committee hearing. Contact the Commerce Committee and your local reps with your support.

                        Stay safe. 73.
