As you remember from your FCC license exam, we can’t transmit on the 420-430 MHz frequency segments when north of “Line A”, which is roughly parallel to the US-Canadian border. (There is also a line on the Canadian side, and there are lines on both sides of the Alaskan portion of the border.)
If you’re venturing into northern New Hampshire or Vermont, or into Maine, and you plan to work in the VHF band, you should check where you will be with respect to “Line A”. The FCC has a couple of WEB pages to help you do this:
