The Nashua Area Radio Society’s Picnic and Parks on the Air gathering is tomorrow, Saturday, August 1, at Silver Lake State Park in Hollis, New Hampshire. We will begin gathering at 10:00 a.m.
In addition to enjoying a picnic and operating POTA, members will have an opportunity to participate in a radio fox hunt. A hidden transmitter—the “fox”—will be placed somewhere in Silver Lake State Park, and participants can test their radio direction-finding skills as they search for it.
Bring your HT and any fox-hunting equipment you have, such as a directional antenna, attenuator, or other direction-finding gear. Members who have never tried fox hunting are also encouraged to attend. It is a fun way to learn how radio direction finding works, and experienced members can help newcomers get started.
We will also have portable radio equipment available for a Parks on the Air activation. Members are welcome to bring their own portable stations, antennas, batteries, and other POTA equipment. Whether you would like to operate, help set up an antenna, hunt the fox, or simply spend time with fellow club members, there will be something for everyone.
