Enjoy the Fall Colors and Join Us for a Fox Hunt at Mine Falls Park on October 24th!

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year in New Hampshire, and what better way to enjoy it than with a little amateur radio adventure!

The leaves are displaying beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold, and the weather forecast for this Saturday looks great for spending time outdoors. With sunshine, temperatures warming into the 50s, and an afternoon high near 60°F, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get outside, enjoy the fall foliage, and have some fun with fellow Nashua Area Radio Society members.

Join us for our Fall Fox Hunt on Saturday, October 24th, at Mine Falls Park in Nashua!

      What Is a Fox Hunt?

Fox hunting, also known as radio direction finding, is a fun activity where participants use handheld radios and directional antennas to locate hidden radio transmitters (the “foxes”).

It’s a great way to develop your radio skills, learn about antennas and signal propagation, and enjoy a little friendly competition. Best of all, you don’t need any previous fox hunting experience to participate!

      Event Details

      • Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
      • Location: Mine Falls Park, Nashua, NH
      • Meeting Point: Park entrance at the end of Whipple Street
      • Time: The foxes will be transmitting by 9:00 AM

We’ll have a table set up at the park entrance where you can meet other participants, enjoy some light refreshments, and get help getting started.

New to Fox Hunting? We’ll Help You Get Started!

If you’ve never participated in a fox hunt before, this is a perfect opportunity to give it a try.

We’ll have handheld transceivers (HTs) available for those who need them, along with experienced members who can provide mentoring and show you how to track down the hidden transmitters.

Whether you’re an experienced fox hunter, a newly licensed ham, or simply curious about radio direction finding, everyone is welcome!

      Enjoy the Beautiful Fall Scenery!

Mine Falls Park is a wonderful place to explore at this time of year. The colorful autumn leaves provide a beautiful backdrop for our hunt, and the cool fall air makes walking the trails especially enjoyable.

Saturday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 60°F. It will be chilly early in the morning, so dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Bring your HT and directional antenna if you have them, or borrow equipment from us. You can hunt at your own pace, enjoy the scenery, and spend time with fellow amateur radio enthusiasts.

We Hope to See You There!

Come out and enjoy a beautiful fall day, learn something new, and have some fun finding the foxes!
