We have received several requests to share the image and construction details for the Raspberry Pi Satellite Tracker Interface. We use the Sat Tracker interface with MacDoppler as part our Portable Satellite Stations. The Sat Tracker described in the article uses a Raspberry Pi Computer with a touch screen interface to interface MacDoppler to Green Heron Engineering RT-21 Rotator Controller(s). You can read about how to build your own Sat Tracker Interface via the link above.

During our class, we go over every question in the pool two times. We have plenty of demos, including a working radio station, to help you remember the information and give you some knowledge to get started once you have your license.  Our instructors are passionate about Amateur Radio and will pass their enthusiasm on to you.  We have a success rate of over 90%.

In order to maximize your ability to pass the exam that is held at the end of the class, there is some pre-work.  You will need to read the Gordon West License Class book for the level and complete an open book “fill in the blanks” assignment that you will receive when you register.

Visit our online registration form to register for a class.  For more information, see https://www.n1fd.org/amateur-radio-license-class/or contact Anita, AB1QB at [email protected].

160m Portable Antenna System for Field Day

Source: 160m Portable Antenna System for Field Day

The Nashua Area Radio Society tries to do something new each time we engage in an Emcom or other major field operation. We decided to try Winter Field Day for the first time this year and we made one ofour new elements a capable portable station for 160m.

It’s almost impossible to field an effective 160m station with only a Transmit antenna. Transmit antennas typically are too noisy for effective operation on the low bands. We decided to try a Beverage On The Ground antenna for the receive side of our 160m station. This proved to be a great choice.

You can read more about our project and how it performed via the link above.
