Here at NARC we’ve got a full platter of upcoming programs:
May: I will be giving a hands-on presentation and demo of some new kinds of PC-assisted digital communications and other ham related PC topics. I’m planning a wireless (and radio-less) demo of PSK31 (that’s “Phase Shift Keying, 31 Baud”), if I can get it to work. So, if you want to make better use of that PC in your shack, bring your questions, and get ready to see some exciting new applications. The only downside of PSK (according the XYL) is that the shack always sounds like a nest of angry soprano bees. For a quick look see, and to get free software etc., please visit my web site at http://www.psk31.com
June: Field day preparations. This is a GREAT time for beginners and experts alike to see how it’s done, from towers to contesting to community interaction. It’s a “don’t miss” barrel of fun (and work). Contact Fletch, N1MEO for more info on upcoming site reviews and planning!
July: Apres-field-day meeting. The good, bad, and (other) facets of what happened.
Future meetings: I’m currently looking for a way to put together an auction for the fall, and I desperately need an auctioneer, or someone willing to fake it. Basically anyone comfortable in front of a microphone, and doesn’t mind public humiliation (hmmm...isn’t that MOST hams???) Oh, and they also need to be able to count up (ok, THAT limits the field a bit).
Another potential program is to do a “Stump The Experts” night, oriented towards beginners. I’ve heard that these have been real fun in years past, so mebbe it’s time to do it again. Other program ideas are being “ruminated” upon, but no real clarity yet. Got a favorite, let me know! Hope to see you at the next meeting, and get ready for a quick-paced session with PSK.
You don’t have to be a member of the club to share in the fun. Join us at the Nashua Public Library for our next meeting. Stay tuned, there’s LOTS more fun to come!
See you at the meeting! de Neil, N1DMA
