“State of the Art Power Supplies”

Today’s power demands require stringent conditioning. Greater efficiency, smaller packaging, and higher current requirements are just part of the demands of today. For example, switching power supplies used to run in radio applications need to be smaller and more RF friendly. Any ham who interfaces computer equipment with an HF radio knows about this interference. Are you interested in knowing more? Don Hornbeck, K1EER, educates the group at next April’s program. He will discuss different types of power supplies, their attributes, applications and how they are designed to meet today’s conditions. Don works as a consultant for Beck Associates and is the Director of Marketing for Rantec Industries. Don has 40 years of professional experience with designing power supplies. Another NARC program that is well worth attending.

A special thanks and appreciation to March’s guest speaker Joe Reisert, W1JR. Joe talked about Yagi HF antenna design. He started his presentation by listing common antenna design issues and pitfalls. Next he instructed anyone interested on how to easily construct a four element high gain Yagi. Anyone wishing to find more about yagis can reference his on-line notes at www.astronantennas.com/features_benefits. html. Antenna enthusiasts really enjoyed this presentation. Thanks to all who attended.

Remember, your favorite topics can be next month’s program!! Visit with us and bring some ideas along for new programs. You may talk with me after the meeting, on the air, or via email at W1GRY@empire.net . Hope to hear from you soon.

You don’t have to be a member of the club to share in the fun. Join us at the Nashua Public Library for this meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club.

See you at the meeting! de Gary, W1GRY
