President Mike called for the acceptance of the secretary’s report of the previous board meeting. Jack, WB4MDC, moved and Tracy, N1WIR, seconded a motion to accept the secretary’s report as published in the bulletin. The motion carried.
Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, reported there was one piece of correspondence from the ARRL acknowledging the club’s Special Service Club renewal.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $2,917.04. On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Bob, KD1AW, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported there were 162 members in good standing.
Activities coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported the club Christmas party was a success and he was planning a sledding/skiing party sometime in February, weather permitting.
Plans to assist in the handling logs for the NHQSO Party have been withdrawn, president Mike announced, since there has been no communication to the club concerning the contest.
Under training, president of vice and training coordinator Bob, KD1AW, reported he was not aware of how many graduates of the recent novice/technician course has passed the tests at the club-sponsored VE session. He said another training class was being considered, beginning in the spring.
Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, reported programs for January-project night; February-Traffic Handling with N1NH; and possibly Joe Reisert, W1JR, on antenna design in the future.
There was no new ARES/RACES information to report.
Under old business, it was announced that bills for the club Christmas Party expenses would be due 31 January.
President Mike presented a suggestion to the board that additional personnel be considered in running the club’s Field Day operation, however, no action was taken.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, also presented the quarterly budget report.
With the imminent departure of NARC remailer list master, Joel, KD1ON, for Arizona, proposals for a replacement service were considered.
On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, it was moved to establish an E-mail remailer with QSL.Net. After considerable discussion amongst the board, Don moved and Tracy, N1WIR, seconded a motion to table the previous motion. The motion carried with Jack, WB4MDC, abstaining.
Under new business, president Mike announced he was trying to arrange to have the bored of directors meetings at the Chandler Memorial Library and Ethnic Center on the last Tuesday of the month.
On a motion by Don, seconded by Bob, the meeting was adjourned.
Mike Graham noted that NARC Field Day T-shirts were available for sale at the meeting. The Classy Junque drawing was held with help from David Banks, N1XOT. The winners were: Gary, W1GRY, Matthew, N1ZYY, Mike, KE1EB, Charles, KB1DOK, Mark, N1ZYZ, Bernie, KE1KT, Linda, N1ZBS, John, KB1DOT, Russ, N1XEM, and Jack, KI1X.
Gary Chevalier, W1GRY, commenced with the “Projects Night” program for this month. Presenters included Gary, W1GRY, Spi, K1CWZ, John, WS1E, Matthew, N1ZYY, Colleen, N1HAJ, Rich, W1HZN, and Bob, KD1AW. A write-up of the projects presented appears elsewhere in this issue.
The Treasurer’s report was given by departing 1998 Treasurer George, WA1DEI. George reported that the Club balance as of 12/31/98 was $2948.75. The report was accepted as read on a motion by Rich, W1HZN, and seconded by Gary, W1GRY. Thank you for a job well done George.
Membership coordinator, Tracy, N1WIR, reported that we currently have 173 members, up from 132 this time last year.
Gary, W1GRY, advised that Jim Belanger, N1NH, would be making a presentation on Traffic Handling at the February meeting. Tentatively scheduled for March is Joe Reisert, W1JR, from Antennaco, and John Dorr, K1AR for April.
Mark, N1ZYZ, says that he is continuing his efforts for GOTAP by contacting new licensees. Mark said he will also be working on arranging the “hands-on” display of ham radio equipment at HRO.
Ed, K2TE, had no new news for the training program, but said that there would most likely be more classes and information in the near future. Reports from students of the last class indicate that approximately 5 students passed and earned new licenses.
There was no report for ARES/RACES or activities, and there was no Old Business discussed.
For New Business, Mike (K7CTW) read a flyer from Dispatch Communications about Rohn Tower. Dispatch Communications is a local Two-Way radio dealer who will be stocking Rohn Tower. If you need Rohn parts call them at 603 889 3500. Dispatch Communications will be advertising in the upcoming Bulletins, please be sure to give them your support when buying Rohn.
