Minutes from the November 30th Executive
Board meeting and the December 7th Club Meeting

November 30th Bored meeting

President Mike, K7CTW, opened the November meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club bored of directors meeting with a call for the minutes of the previous meeting. The minutes were amended to include Jim, N1NH, in the upcoming programs. George, WA1DEI, moved and Tracy, N1WIR, seconded a motion to accept the minutes as amended.

Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $3,107.23. The report was accepted on a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC.

Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported 161 members in good standing.

Under training, Bob, KD1AW , president of vice and training coordinator, reported that the Elmer program for license upgrade was underway, but the CW net was defunct.

Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, reported programs for the next several months include elections and awards in December; Project Night in Jan.; and Jim, N1NH, on traffic handling and NTS in Feb.

Activities coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported plans for the Christmas Party were finalized and possibly some participation in the NHQSO party from the Marconi Museum stations was being considered.

Under old business, Jack, WB4MDC, asked about the Field Day site review. There remain a number of unanswered questions.

Under new business, Mary Jane, WA4WIJ, displayed the 1998 Field Day T-shirt. Ed, K2TE, moved and Bob, KD1AW, seconded a motion to lower the price of the T-shirts from $15 to $12. The motion carried with George, WA1DEI, opposed. The “old” T- shirts will be used at door prizes at the Christmas Party and for Classie Junque.

On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Jack, WB4MDC, the meeting adjourned.

December 7th Club meeting

President Mike, K7CTW, opened the December meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club with introductions. That was followed by the annual election of club officers for the ensuing year.

At the conclusion of balloting, program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, presided over the annual Awards Night presentation.

Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to Fletch Seagroves, N1MEO, "Incident Commander" for leading the Club to it's Fourth Consecutive Year as the Number One Field Day Station in the Nation; Buzz Muzzey, KA1OMJ, for being the gracious host for NARC's Field Day and for acting as the Ridge Road branch of the Hollis Towing Service by extricating 4 X 4s that should have known better; Brooks Tanner, KC1PD, Purveyor of Fine Foods and Feeder of the thundering herd at NARC's Field Day.

Also, Jim Heedles, WW1Y, for doing more for the Club than any other TEN club members combined! - Newsletter Editor/Publisher, Webmaster, Database Manager, FD Computer Administrator, VE Administrator, Tower Climber, FD Sign Maker, Message Board Writer, Antenna Supplier, ELMER", "Canned" Ham Collector, and Highest Number of QSO giver "outside the circle"; Don Dillaby, KA1GOZ, for working with the City of Nashua and procuring a permanent parking place for the Club's "Big Orange Box"; Don Dillaby, KA1GOZ, for faithfully serving on the NARC Board of Directors for longer than anyone can remember...; Ed Deichler, K2TE, for his monthly column, "Tiny Elephant's Contest Corner", in the Nashua Area Radio Club Newsletter.

Also, to Mike Graham, K7CTW, for his monthly installment of "DX Rx" column in the Nashua Area Radio Club Newsletter; Bob Fyfe, KD1AW, for his dedicated service fulfilling the duties of Vice Chairman of NARC, and Licensing Class Administrator; Chris Garon, K1SI, for his continued support of the Club by donating his personal time, equipment, and materials in the making of club name badges. To Colleen Gaffey, N1HAJ; Carol Knight; John Gaffey, WS1E; Dave Knight, KA1DT; Pauline Wells, KA1LDF; and Mary Jane Warren, WA4WIJ, for helping design the 1998 Field Day T-shirt. John Gaffey, WS1E, for continuing his efforts as NARC's Equipment Custodian and Club Radio License Trustee; Joel Levin, KD1ON, for his continued maintenance of the NARC Electronic Mail Remailer; Ken McAlister, KE1GI for making sure our comfort stops are comfortable at Field Day by assuring the timely delivery of the "Holders of the Crescent Moons"; Ray Minichiello, W1BC, for his efforts in making the Marconi Museum a reality and honoring the 1998 NARC Field Day with a special visit by Marconi's daughter, Princess Elettra.

Also to David Banks, N1XOT, for bravery above and beyond the call of duty; in that he did, without any equivocation or mental reservation, continue to put WW1Y's name into the Classy Junque box, despite threats of bodily harm. Each month David stares down even the most scurrilous among our membership and ensures that each member has an equal opportunity to take home some "Classy Junque"; Gary Chevalier, W1GRY, for professionalism and enthusiasm in conducting the Beginners Amateur Radio License Class - Spring 1998; Wayne Mueller, W1QC, for professionalism and enthusiasm in conducting the Beginners Amateur Radio License Class - Fall 1998; George Fisher, WA1DEI, for his dedicated service fulfilling the duties of Treasurer of NARC; Don Grant, N1UBD; Joy Grant, N1ZBN ; Julie Grant; DEG Grant, N1ZBM; and Bob Grant, KB1CMM, for the flawless performance of "Power Supplied by NARC Hams" at this year's Field Day. The manner in which you and your family coordinated the setup, operation, and tear-down of the power grid was truly inspirational.

Sterling Eanes, AK1K , for continuing the tradition by teaching "Tower Climbing School - 1998", thereby making our Field Days as safe as possible; Al Simons, WA1TYB, and Kathe Simons, N1NYT, for making sure that all of the canned food collected at each NARC function is safely delivered to those in need; Mary Jane Warren, WA4WIJ, For fetching, collating, stickering, sorting, banding, boxing, mailing, and distributing the Nashua Area Radio Club Newsletter; and John Halbert, KA1HOV, "Mr. Music Man" - Thank you for your continued musical support at the annual Club Christmas Party.

The Nashua Area Radio Club's 8-Ball Award Committee has selected Mike Graham, K7CTW. As the recipient of this year's coveted 8-Ball award for so eloquently describing, in his monthly column in the Club Newsletter, his attempt to burn down the trees in his back yard using little more than the insulator at the end of his 160 Meter dipole and his Powerful Transmitter in his Shack.

Following awards presentation, Mark, N1ZYZ, announced the results of the annual election of officers (See Election Results).
President Mike, K7CTW, opened the business portion of the meeting with a call for the secretary’s report. On a motion by Pauline, KA1LDF, seconded by Mark, N1ZYZ, the report was accepted as published in the newsletter.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported that the club balance stood at $3,107.23 as of Nov. 30. On a motion by Chris, K1SI, seconded by Dave, N1SUE, the report was accepted as presented.

Membership coordinator Tracy, N1WIR, reported there were 166 club members in good standing.

Activities coordinator Ed, K2TE, noted that the club Christmas Party was a success. He also announced he was planning a winter sledding party at the Hollis Field Day site, at a later date.

Bob, KD1AW, president of vice and training coordinator, reported that the last session of the novice/technician license class was being held Tuesday and the candidates were expected to test at the VE session Saturday.

Program coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, announced programs for January and February would be Project Night in January and Jim, N1NH, in February on the National Traffic System and traffic handling.
