“Futures...”

A few months ago, Brooks Tanner, KC1PD took us back in time to visit the state of the art in disk drive technology as it existed in those days. This month, Brooks will visit us again, bringing the future technologies into clearer focus for all of us. It’s been a long time since we’ve had to “park” our drives.

My thanks goes out to those folks that brought their projects to share with the rest of us during last month’s “project night”.

Rich, W1HZN showed schematically how to put those wimpy transformers together to get more “soup” out of them, while Mary Jane, WA4WIJ shared her Grandson’s first year with us by displaying her home made picture calendar. Matthew Wagner, N1ZYY gave us an alphabet phonetics lesson using his Radio Alphabet Book he assembled for a school project. Julie Grant introduced her life like “brother and sister” dolls to us; I expected them to chuckle and coo. Bob, KD1AW is at it again. He’s built “glowing boots” for his two meter sideband rig. Those 5894’s have to be put to use doing something! I’m glad Ed, K2TE brought pictures of his project instead of the real thing. Have you ever seen a two element 80 meter beam? We have! John Clark, WB1HBW showed us his portable 40 meter QRP CW rig and how to use a favorite classic microphone with a modern transmitter. And Jack, WB4MDC gave us a listen to how Gene calls CQ using the club’s new call. Jack visited with Gene a couple of weeks ago and had his analog voice recorder nearby when “9600 baud” K1NR called “CQ, N1FD”.

You don’t have to be a member of the club to share in the fun. Join us at the Nashua Public Library for this meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club.

Your favorite topics make next month’s program!! Tell me about them.

See you at the meeting! de Jack, WB4MDC
