NEWS TO USE OR LOSE...

(The following may be from several sources: the OPDX Bulletin by KB8NW, ARRL Bulletins, WF1B and JA RTTY Reflectors, the W2MIG 14165 gathering of friends, and the North Jersey DX Association.)

5W, WESTERN SAMOA. Perry, WH6XY, who is active as 5W1PC until November, can be found mostly weekends operating SSB on 15, 17 and 20 meters using an FT- 757 and delta loop. He is currently working as a schoolteacher there. (NJDXA)

9X, RWANDA. Andy, RW3AH, reports that he may be active again from here as 9X/RW3AH. He will be here starting Aug. 24th and stay for several months. (OPDX)

BT, CHINA. Lou, PA0LOU, will be active from Sep. 4-16th with the special callsign BT1IARU while attending the IARU Region 3 Conference. Operations will be from a hotel in Beijing where he is staying along with other delegates. (NJDXA)

FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA. The following group will operate from Bora Bora as a Multi-Single entry in the CQWW Phone contest in October. The operation will be from the Bora Bora DX Club station and will use the club call FO8DX during the contest. Stan, FO5IW, will be their host for the week. Outside of the contest, the group will operate with individual FO calls, Ron N6VO/FO5VO, Doug N6RT/FO0RT, Mike W6RW/FO0RW, John KA7CQQ/FO0CQ and Charlie W6KK/FO0KK. QSL to CBA's or W6DA. (NJDXA)

KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. Larry, WB6VGI, will be returning to Cuba, around the 8th of August for about 30 days. Signing KG4ML (CW and SSB), he will be operating 160-10 meters on the weekends and 80-15 meters on the weekdays. His work schedule will determine the weekday times, but he hopes to be on from 1000-1130 and 2200-0300z. Larry states the weekends will be the big push (but taking time out for a fishing trip or two). This looks like the last trip down to Cuba for Larry, so he is going to try and work as many that need KG4 as possible. WARC bands will have a higher priority as the resident ham population spends a lot of time on the "usual" bands. He reports 10 MHz is very difficult due to a local noise source that's about 30 over S9, but he will try whenever noise is absent. QSL via WB6VGI.

KH2, GUAM. Ray, WH6ASW, will sign WH6AW/KH2 from here again from mid- August until December. QSL via VK4FW.

KH3, JOHNSTON ISLAND. Al, KK5ZX, will be active every third and fourth day during his stay beginning August 23rd. His activity will be from the club station there and operations will be mostly CW but, there will be some SSB on 160-10 meters.

KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Long time DXpeditioners Doug, W3CF; and Dick, K3MQH; will be active from Windwood, WP2Z, from October 22-30th. During their stay, they will participate as a Multi/Something entry in the 1997 CQWW Phone Contest. These charter members of V26B will focus on WARC bands and RS- 12 during free time. QSL W3CF/KP2 to his QSL Manager Koos, KK3S. QSL K3MQH/KP2 to his home call, K3MQH. QSL contest call "WP2Z" for THIS CONTEST ONLY (1997 CQWW PHONE) to KK3S. Windwood is a rental property, so many different QSL routes will apply. Pay close attention to announced QSL routes in specified time periods and specific contests. For more information, E-mail this operation (1997 CQWW Phone) to: W3CF@aol.com.

T4, CUBA (Attention Prefix Hunters). Before and after the contest he will be active on the WARC bands. Also, if propagation allows, he will be on 6 meters with a vertical and a 100 watts. QSL to VE3BW.

TY, BENIN. Sigi, DJ4IJ, will be active once again from now until September 10th as TY1IJ. His activity will be mainly 160, 80 and 30 meters. He has a sked on 18140 KHz during the weekends (no times were given). QSL via DK8ZD.
