Secretary Don, KA1GOZ, read the secretary’s report, which was accepted as read on a motion by Jack, WB4MDC, seconded by Bob, KD1AW.
In the absence of the treasurer, George, WA1DEI; membership coordinator Ed, K2TE; and activities coordinator, Brooks, KC1PD, there were no reports.
Programs coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, reported he will present the July program on integrated circuits. The program for August remains open. Don, KA1GOZ, will try to set up a program on SKYWARN for September.
Field Day Incident Commander and Stuckee, Fletch, N1MEO, reported that station masters were still being sought for 220, 440, and 10 meters-CW for Field Day. He said we currently will be operating in class 23A.
Under old business, president John noted there was nothing to report on the FCC’s RF safety compliance. On the issue of Field Day storage he reported the offer is still open. Jack noted that a building permit may be needed if the structure is over 100 sq. ft.
On a motion by Bob, KD1AW, seconded by Jack, the meeting was adjourned.
President John, WS1E, opened the June meeting of the Nashua Area Radio Club with the announcement that there was no Classie Junque drawing this month. That was followed by introductions by those present.
Fletch, N1MEO, Field Day Incident Commander and Stuckee, opened the program with a brief outline of what is being planned. John, WS1E, presented suggestions for working the CW mode on the HF bands, and was followed by Rex, K1HI, who gave a similar presentation on working phone. Brooks, KC1PD, who is now responsible for feeding the masses, outlined the menu for the event as well as the ticket price, $17, for all four meals.
Following the program, president John opened the business portion of the meeting. Jim, WW1Y moved, Mike, NE1V, seconded a motion to accept the secretary’s report as published. The motion carried.
Treasurer George, WA1DEI, reported the club balance stood at $2,382.11. He followed that presentation with an overview of the current status of the budget. On a motion by Don, KA1T, seconded by Ken, ex-N1DYV, the treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.
Membership coordinator Ed, K2TE, reported there are 103 club members and at least 45 are ARRL members. He urged members renewing their membership to use the application form printed in the bulletin when renewing. It provides updated information for the club database which needs information concerning ARRL membership in order to maintain our affiliation and special service club status. Activities coordinator Brooks, KC1PD, noted the next activity would be Field Day!
Programs coordinator Jack, WB4MDC, reported he would present the July program on integrated circuits. Don, KA1GOZ, Emergency Coordinator (EC) for Eastern Hillsborough County, announced the planned SKYWARN training would be held July 9 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Nashua City Hall.
President John asked Section Manager Al “Bunky” Shuman for any news from the section. He reported that a new Section Emergency Coordinator, Rich Force, WB1ASL, had been named, succeeding Gary, N3CLZ. Gary will remain as assistant section manager for ARES/RACES. Al also announced he was circulating a sign-up sheet for those who support the issuance of special amateur radio vehicle registration plates. He had almost the needed 300 signatures and requested anyone interested to sign up.
President John noted that this will likely be the last year the club will be able to use the current Field Day site and consideration needs to be given to finding a replacement. He also noted the issue of storage of the Field Day equipment needs to be addressed more immediately, since it will no longer be available after the current Field Day operation. He noted that a location was available, but construction of some sort of structure to house the equipment was needed.
Jim, WW1Y, resident VE, announced the next Nashua exam session would be June 14 at First Church., Nashua.
President John also noted that the Volunteer Protection Act, which would protect volunteers such as VEs and ARES/RACES members from possible lawsuit from their activities in these areas. On a motion by Don, KA1GOZ, seconded by Ken, KE1GI, the meeting was adjourned.
