CQ CONTEST

Well folks that's it! Another successful Field Day under our belt! Al (WA1TYB) did a fantastic job heading up the whole affair. As a member of the club and of the "BORED of directors", I would like to personally thank all who helped out with the Field Day activities. I hope you're all ready for Field Day '96, cause rumor has it that the planning meetings are starting this month! You can never be too prepared I suppose.

On deck for the August 7th meeting is Doug Grant (K1DG). Doug, along with John Dorr (K1AR) won the "World Radiosport" contest in 1990. Several teams from throughout the world were chosen to compete in the contest. The winners of the contest were declared to be the best in the world. Doug will be showing a brief video of some of the contest, followed by a Q & A session. Now is the time to take some pointers from a well seasoned contester.

Many thanks to ICOM America for the use of their new IC-775DSP HF Transceiver. This was the first IC-775DSP to be tested during a real contest under real contest situations. The rig did outstanding to say the least. Look elsewhere in this issue for K2TE's review of this new rig. With the use of this radio, the 80 meter CW operators were able to break the club record for contacts on that band. Those operators were Mike (NE1V), Ed (K2TE) and Jim (N1NH). Nice job guys!

Well, that's it for now. I'll see yawl at the August 7 meeting...that's if everybody's rested from Field Day that is!

Any ideas for a meeting topic? Let me know at the meeting, on packet KA1SIE @ KB4N, or 603-883-2456.

73 es keep ur final dipped!
