Boy, was it hot! But we did it--we had 24 transmitters on the air between 4:30 and 4:45 Saturday afternoon! CQ Field Day, N1NH 24A New Hampshire...

The efforts of nearly 100 club members and friends working, eating and generally having fun together brought off our latest field day activities. We had several new band records (as far a my records go back--to 1984), and a new total points record. Most of all, many new hams who were licensed during the past year had a chance to participate and find out how much fun NARC Field Day really is.

OK, how did it all pan out?

It was a great year for CW, with records on 160, 80, 40, 20, and 300+ GHz. We also had records on packet and 902 phone. The 902 Q was actually our first Field Day ATV contact. Our total Q count was 6212, again a record as far back as our records go and significantly more than any station last year. Who says that the bands are dead!

At the time I write this, I still haven't done the final score tally, but it looks like our score will be about 21,500 points. We will have to wait until late October to find out how that stacks up against the other stations around the country!

As I mentioned above, this year's effort was the result of the cooperation of almost 100 people. Thanks especially to Buzz, KA1OMJ for the use of the site, and Jim, N1NH for the use of his call! Also, special thanks to all our station captains, KD1AW, K2TE, NE1V, KA1CRN, WS1E, N1DYV, NO1V, K1HI, W1GUU, NU1U, KA1T, N1JWA, N1NHS, N1STY, N1TZD, WB2FSK, KB1AWE, N1SUE, KD6LFW and KA1SSR. Also, our two "pseudo-station" captains, W1HZN on 60 Hz, and KA1GOZ on infrared. Rumor has it that WB1UBD is in line to take over Rich's power duties when Rich resigns! Seriously, Don, thanks for the power grid assist.

Well, this one's in the bag, and it is time to start looking forward to next year. If you have ideas on how to make next year more fun or more successful, please let me know about it. Better yet, come to the wrap up meeting for this year at my house, August 8th at NARC time (also known as 7:00).

Next year will be my last year as the Field Day coordinator, so if you would like to try a very fun job that is great for getting to know people, I am looking for someone to shadow me next year. This will give the following coordinator a year's on-the-job training!

Included elsewhere in this issue (Ed note:Look here!) is a table of NARC's field day results over the years. This list is as complete as I could make it, but there are still some missing results for prior years. If you have any of the missing data, please pass it on so I can update the table.

I've heard that some club members are getting new microwave gear, so it is on to next year: CQ Field Day N1NH, 26A, NH!
