I was an instructor in the Navy teaching Morse Code to potential Communications Technicians back in the early 70’s. One activity we found very useful was to encourage students sound out the code, either verbally or in their heads, whenever possible: When you see a stop sign, spell it out in code “dit-dit-dit, dah, dah-dah-dah, dit-dah-dah-dit. (stop first, of course). Do the same with a newspaper headline every morning, at work when you see a sign on the wall, the numbers on a clock, etc…. You get the idea. We found that students that used this technique learned the letters quicker than those who just put it out of mind until the next class.
Thanks Mike. Everything looks good to me in MS Word 2011 MAC version.

There are many PC logger programs (freeware to $$$) which can do this task. For mobile HF, I just started using Aether for Mac, since I only take Apple devices on the road. Aether supports most contest formats including uploading cabrillo files. At QTH, I can upload ADIF files to my HRD software, if I choose. Aether is easy and has many features; alas, it does not have super check partial support.

We’ll (Mikayla and I) will shoot for heading up right after lunch.
Sorry, I forgot the attachments.

WoooooHooooooooo!
Are you planning to have QSL Card Party Sessions?
Well…
It says “this transition takes a few hundred million years, but once the Sun completely crosses this Rubicon of middle age, it will remain magnetically inactive for the rest of its hydrogen-burning life.”
I am not sure how close our Sun is to middle age & it might have been nice if Forbes mentioned this in the article.

Along the same vein of conversation:
Greg, I looked up the Alpha-Delta arresters you use: They allow DC voltage through. In Fred’s blog, the PolyPhase ones block DC. So my question is which is the better investment? Like all things, I am betting the answer is “it depends”, but I’m looking for the caveats following that statement.
The only thing I could think regarding why you want to allow DC through is if one has some antenna switching setup that sends a control voltage to the outside box to switch the ports. I don’t know if that is typical in practice to encounter, however.
The price point between the Alpha-Delta and PolyPhase isn’t enormous, so I’m really just curious about which ones seems best for just getting started. As a sidenote which may be helpful, I may have 3 antennas (maybe 4) by the end of the summer.
Thanks for all help and 73,
Brian (AB1ZO)
