Hi Daniel – thanks for responding. I have the AURSINC NanoVNA-H rev 3.5. It goes goes up to 1.5GHz, which is fine for my use. I do wish it had a PC interface like the one you ordered. Maybe you could give an update on the regular forum once you have used it.
You definitely need to use online resources, like YouTube, to set up various tests. It only comes with a simple menu map.
Not yet. Need to call Charter/Spectrum, but working on it. Still need to go thru web site. Better than it was!
Hi Marvin, that was me who mentioned the NanoVNA. I just ordered the NanoVNA SAA-V2 on Amazon from AURSINC, who seems to have a decent reputation. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089DJXMX3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3KC9Z86M9XWS3&psc=1
I haven’t received it yet, but will be watching the Youtube Videos to familiarize myself with the operation and capabilities. It seems like this device has quite a broad set of features when it comes to measuring antenna-related parameters. I look forward to learning how to use it, and to tuning my 2M ground plane antenna!
Last night someone mentioned they were going to use a NanoVNA to tune a new antenna. I didn’t catch his handle or call sign but would like to follow up on his progress. I used one to check the SWR on a mag mount antenna I cut down to better match MURS frequencies. That seemed to work ok, but I know there is a lot more a person can do with one, like checking coax loss.

The number of replies is terrific! Every bit of information is well researched and full of heavy facts. I’ll take the KX2 and remove the battery showing the TSA everything is above board. I don’t need to have anything confiscated, and I am sure it wouldn’t be. There are a LOT of regulations, and in this time of life, we need every one. I suspect the KX2 is the least of the TSA’s problems.
Jim, the DISCONE story is truly something I wish we had in this area, especially at 80 feet. TNX for the tip. It was VERY interesting and the pictures made it even better.
TNX to ALL who replied to my post. This is where the Ham radio fraternity kicks in and makes this hobby a fun sport! Dennis K1LGQ

i use an Amazon converter. Costs about $12 and comes in two styles based on port configuration. “USB to RS232 Adapter with FTDI Chipset, CableCreation USB to RS232 Male DB9 Serial Converter for Cashier Register, Modem, Scanner, Industriual Machinery, CNC, Black” . It works with my Elecraft KPA500 without an issues. Good luck!Paul – W1PEF
Anyone going to the SOTA from Nashua or Mass areas and interested in car pooling? We could meet at the Park & Ride off exit 8.
Very cool Jay!
I just built a Langstone SDR – basically a Pluto with a Raspberry Pi4 and touchscreen:https://wiki.microwavers.org.uk/Langstone_Project
I have some band pass filters and a broadband power amp, I plan on using it for 222, 902, 1296 and 2.3GHz

Thanks for the write up Fred.
I was on air and listening, but I guess my antenna isn’t high enough. I could hear most everyone very well, but could not make out net control at all. Thanks for having the net!
