I checked the state parks parking permit page this afternoon and there was still 45 permits available so if you were waiting till the last minute you can still join us . The solar flux is up to 126 and the weather looks great for portable radio. So come out and check it out.

      Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the info Jon. Very sad news! I actually worked with Fletch for a number of years and he  was my first Elmer . I brought a weather alert radio I had just purchased to work he took a look at it and said if your interested in radio send that back and buy a ham radio a copy of Now Your Talking and i’ll help you study for the test. This was back in the early 90’s well before smart phones and their apps that you can practice taking the exam . Fletch downloaded practice tests and brought them to work I would take the test that night and give him the test the next day to correct rinse and repeat until one day he said i was ready to take the test.

        Thanks Again Fletch

How was the Hollis Country Kitchen’s breakfast?  Unfortunately my wife was working the overnight shift and didn’t make it home in time for me to go.The person I talked to  Friday afternoon was really  happy to hear of a big group coming in for breakfast so I’m interested in hearing people’s thoughts on the food and service.

Just a reminder that this Saturday, July 24th is our first SOTA/POTA hike of 2021. We will be meeting at the base of the Mt. Kearsarge auto road at 10:30.

If you haven’t reserved your parking pass yet you should soon the weather sounds like it will be 77 and mostly sunny so there will likely be a lot of people wanting to be out hiking.

The article in its entirety can be found here for more information

                2021 Mt. Kearsarge SOTA/POTA – July 17th

and here you can purchase your parking pass and also driving directions to reach Rollins State Park.

The weather report for this weekend includes a high probability of thunder storms , especially in the mountains . After talking it over with Fred we agreed it was prudent to  postpone the SOTA POTA hike for safety reasons.  The hike will be rescheduled next weekend. I’m working on my work schedule to get next Saturday off. This would give the flexibility to postpone it a day and still get the hike in . I will announce the finalized  date in the next day or two. Thanks for hanging in there .

                    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

I will rewrite the above  article later on tonight but the phone number I gave you above gets you information on where to go online to get a  a day use pass. Instead of deluging Gail with calls I’ll save you (and her) the trouble. Please go to this link to get to the NH State parks info site.

At this website you can pick the day and number of vehicle occupants  to  get the pass you will need for parking at the picnic grounds at the end of the auto road.
