I am a newly licensed ham who just passed my license exams in June, 2021. After retiring last October as a Software Development Engineer with Philips Medical, I am looking for a way to meet new people as well as learn new technical skills. I know a number of fellow engineers who were hams and thought amateur radio would meet both goals. My wife, Diane, and I have been married 47 years this August and we have five grown children. My educational background includes degrees in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Computer Science from WPI and Northeastern University, as well as many post-graduate courses from three other schools. My current hobbies besides radio include walking, dabbling on the guitar, leaning Spanish, and swing dancing, and past hobbies included running, sailing, biking. I’m not quite sure how to use my amateur radio skills. At Philips, I served on the company Emergency Response Team for over 20 years, and hope to apply my skills in that area. I have expertise in network communications (protocols, wi-fi, etc.) while at Philips, so digital protocols would be interesting to me. I’m also starting to learn Morse code, so CW is also a goal. I look forward to meeting people and growing my skills as a member of the NARS.
