Hi Wayne,
We take a little different approach to QSL cards. Since we have electronic logs, I can upload all of our contacts to LoTW, ClubLog, etc. This take care of a good bit of the confirmation process. I do end up receiving several hundred paper cards. The process these is to confirm them in our logs, generate the return cards using the computer and then stuff the returns in the provided SASEs. This process needs to be done at my QTH. Would you like to help me with this to see how it works? Others are welcome as well. If you would, let me know and we’ll schedule something one evening to do it. I already have a few hundred cards waiting for processing.

A very good set of Lesson Learned Jeff – thank you for posting it. We will keep working to improve on 6m setup for Field Day.

Thanks Mike. The latest weather forecast for the park area indicates that we’ll have some showers in the am while we are setting up but we should get a decent window to operate in between about 11 am and 4 pm. We’ll hope to see folks at the park!

Hi Mike,
You are correct on the need to bring a lunch. I could use some help with getting our gear to the park. Will send you a separate email to sort out how we can coordinate this.

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the Fox Hunt at Field Day. Guess you’ll need to try harder to “out-fox” us next time 😉
73,
Well, Field Day is over and I’m happy to say that several people found the fox. On Saturday, 9 brave hunters found the feisty fox. On Sunday, 5 more folks found the little critter. I saw a lot of happy faces as they returned from the hunt.
It wasn’t a difficult hunt since I wanted to keep it within the confines of the high school property. No driving around to find the fox. Also, being our first hunt I wanted to keep it pretty easy. From the feedback I’ve gotten, day 2 was a bit more challenging.
In the future it won’t be so easy. I may try to keep the little guy within the Nashua area, but you never know. Anyone interested?

I use an iPhone app called HamSat. It seems to work pretty well. As with all programs like this, you need to carefully enter the coordinates of your location for the pass prediction data to be accurate. I believe that their may be some other apps for the iPhone which use the built-in GPS to get an accurate fix on your location.
I also use a program called MacDoppler on my Mac to generate satellite prediction lists. This program can also control you radio to compensate for Doppler shift and an az/el rotator to automatically track satellites.
Have fun with the Sats!
