Hello all,
I saw that Yaesu published a firmware update (v4.50) for the FTM-400XDR on 12/22/2020. See https://www.yaesu.com/indexVS.cfm?cmd=DisplayProducts&ProdCatID=249&encProdID=227201D29C822AEFF8482F3367495319 and click on the FILES tab for the downloads.
In looking at the PDFs contained in the download, it appears that this firmware alters the way GM and DG-IDs work a bit:
This update adds the DG-ID function and DP-ID function in the digital C4FM mode of the FTM-400XDR/XDE and FTM-400DR/DE is compatible with the System Fusion II digital repeater DR-2X.
[WARNING] By updating this firmware, the convention functions (DSQ (digital squelch function)/the group setting and SYNC function in the GM (Group Monitor) function) will no longer be available.
Beyond that and the DSP 4.31 update, I don’t see much in the way of details beyond the usual generic “optimizations and enhancements” language. Does anyone know what else this firmware update includes?
Is it worth updating at this point?
Thanks and 73!

I have this radio in my car so this is, of course, interesting to me. The Group Monitor function is about the only feature I haven’t played around with and still want to. I know a couple friends who have the same model, always thought it’d be fun to try it with them. Curious what goes when losing the sync function you mentioned, Dan. I’ll have to read up some. I don’t think I’ll do the update in a hurry though, as I’m having no issues with the radio now. Have owned it about a year and am quite pleased with it. Thanks for posting about the update.
