The results for Winter Field Day have been posted on the Winter Field Day website:
It’s a little tough to sort through the scores, but as far as I can tell N1FD had the 4th highest total score out of all the categories, 2nd highest outdoor score (a 7O beat us out) and top score for the 4O category.
Take a look at the website and let me know if I am reading their website correctly.
Great job by all!

I only looked at the Outdoor Category but I agree that we were 2nd in Outdoor and 1st in 4O. I also saw that the #1 outdoor team was from California. Too bad they don’t have a multiplier based on how low the outdoor temperature is!

March 22, 2019 at 2:08 pm #70376What a ridiculously bad table of data! How can they screw up a darn spreadsheet so bad that you can’t sort the values?
Those WFD guys impress me a little less everytime I look at them.
I mean seriously… they even have some stations with NEGATIVE scores! What does that mean? Those stations need to give back some points???

We came in third overall. (when you include “H” stations)

There were 231 Outdoor teams and 801 teams in all categories. For a first year effort you guys knocked it out of the park!
Also at 1.8% N1FD had by far the lowest errors (Claimed vs Calculated) of the top 10 teams. The next closest was 4.9% with most in the 7% to 12% range.
We were 2nd in Outdoor and 1st in 4O. Here are the top Outdoor scores.

The 1st place winner has far fewer QSOs but did a better job with Mults.

I ran a pivot table from the data that I scraped from their website.
Not too shabby for our first time entering the contest.
I’ll attach the spreadsheet here if someone wants to verify my pivot tables are constructed correctly.

Congratulations everyone!
April 6, 2019 at 5:49 am #70407Glad everyone has had a chance to review the actual results and form an assessment of the group’s achievements. Seems to me, better CW and multiplier success are helpful factors, while having more positions is a lesser factor. We have trouble getting CW operators for regular Field Day.
Congrats to all of the participating members.
Please remember the organizers are volunteers, too. For some perspective, a crew of computer savvy people (a couple of them from this club) got together to develop a better scoring system for the regional and state finals for Odyssey of the Mind, much more complex than this and it took them several years to get it squared away.
