Well, after almost a year’s worth of preparation work and countless hours, Matt KC1XX and Andrew were at our QTH today and put our new 2m EME antenna array on our tower. There is still some tweaking, alignment, and feedline work to do but the project is coming along nicely. There are a total of  112 elements in four antennas with 34 1/2 foot booms. The antennas are mounted in a 15′ X 15′ array using an H-frame on a 26 ft tower. The total gain of the array is 23.2 dBi on 2m. With 1500w in, we should put over 1/4 million watts on the moon.

Another day of work should finish most of the antenna prep. We still have some work to do in our shack to get the 2m EME system on the air.

We rented a 50 ft boom lift (in the picture) to help with the assembly and adjustment of the antennas. A lift is almost an essential tool for a project like this.
