We have created a survey to get club members’ feedback on potential topics for Tech Nights in 2017. You can provide your feedback by visiting the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5RDQ6F7
I encourage all members to complete the survey, it should only take a few minutes of your time.
Suggestion: “Those ARRL Transceiver Reviews – What do They Really Mean?”
The ARRL HF transceiver reviews contain considerable technical performance data that can be overwhelming. When it comes to understanding the parameters shown, in some cases, lower = better while in others, higher = better. Why not show what it means on the air in a contest with a crowded band and strong signals?
K6YC wrote a fine article in September 2014 that analyzes the ARRL measurements of several modern HF transceivers, among them the Elecraft K3 & KX3; ICOMs 7100, 7600, and 7800; FLEX 1500, 3000, and 5000A; ORION II & EAGLE; YAESU FTDX-5000D; and TS-590. In particular, he focused on the effect of phase noise when parked next to a strong (i.e., legal limit) signal.

Thanks for the suggestion Ed, its a good one. Anita, Brian – I know that our survey is already open but could we add Ed’s suggestion to our list to get some input on interest from our members?
