I am working through the diagnosis and repair of some issues with a Tek 495P spectrum analyzer. I have narrowed the problem down to a few possibilities, some of which may require the replacement of one or two 7400 series logic chips in SOIC (SMD) packages. I have neither the skills or equipment to tackle this and am looking for a pointer to someone who can do this for me. I can provide the replacement ICs and happy to pay for time and other materials.

      Hello Rick,

I can easily replace those parts and have the proper equipment and procedures including ESD in place.

I’m in Amherst and work from home most days.

My ” give back” to the hobby is repairing rigs that still have life in the but the manufacture no longer supports. I only charge for parts and shipping which it sounds like neither will apply in your case.

      Hamilton,

Thanks for your offer. I would like to do a bit more troubleshooting before changing out parts, but will contact you as soon as I have the correct part(s) (hopefully) identified. Parts are readily available – less than $10 for a lifetime supply from Digi-Key. I am also in Amherst, and gainfully unemployed so should be easy!

      Best,

        Rick,

Sounds like a plan. I have power meters, spectrum analyzers, sig gens, counters etc to 22 GHz with a limited capability to 110 GHz. Also O scopes and Logic Analyzers etc.

Let me know when you are ready.
