We are postponing the SOTA/POTA activation of Mount Pack Monadnock/Miller State Park until Sunday, August 5th due to the weather outlook for the weekend. Thunderstorms are predicted for Saturday and Sunday looks like it will be very nice.

Here’s information from the original post (with new date):

We will be doing a SOTA/POTA activation from Mount Pack Monadnock and Miller State Park on Sunday, August 5th. Mount Pack Monadnock has a road to the summit as well as trails if you would prefer to hike to the top.

Mount Pack Monadnock is in Miller State Park and is located at 13 Miller Park Road in Peterborough, NH. There is a charge of $4/adult and $2/child (6-11 years old).

This will be a great activity for all, especially those that are newly licensed Technicians! You can work Summits on the Air with a handheld (HT) and a yagi. I will be bringing 2 tape measure yagis and an Elk antenna (like a yagi) and very happy to loan them to anyone who wants to give it a try. I’ll also have my KX2 and buddipole set up for HF – again, I’m happy to share.

We’ll plan on showing up around 11 am and we’ll stay until we’ve worked everyone on the bands! You can plan to show up when you want – I’m sure you won’t miss us, just look for the cars with the antennas or a very large, portable 6-meter antenna! For Summits on the Air we’ll work some 2 meters and be starting on 146.52 MHz and then probably move off that frequency. We will have cell reception so check our facebook page for up to date frequencies.

If you have any questions you can post here or give me a call! I’d love to see everyone there especially our new Technicians! It’s a great way to get your feet wet!
