Anita and I have been continuing our vacation and NPOTA tour in Maine. Yesterday, we activated Acadia National Park. Most of the park is also located on an IOTA (NA-055) and we gave our contacts to the IOTA as well. We operated from the top of Cadillac Mountain and from an easterly facing elevated area overlooking salt water. The later site produced a tremendous run of DX stations in Europe. In less than 1 hour, we worked over 70 DX stations in 25 countries in Europe. Many of our reports were 59+10db and 59+20db in Europe.

Our QSO total in just two days of operating is already over 700. We have decided to extend our trip an extra day and activate Katahdin Woods and Waters NM again on Saturday. Here’s our planned on-air schedule for the rest of the trip –

Thursday 8/31-9/1 – Acadia National Park (NP01) – This is also going to be an IOTA Activation NA-055

Friday 9/2 – Roosevelt/Campobello International Park in Canada (AA21) – This will also be an IOTA Activation NA-014.

      Friday 9/2 – St. Croix NHS (HS01)

Saturday 9/3 – Katadhin Woods and Water NM (NM84) – This is a new National Park.

We plan to operate on a mix of 20m and 40m SSB. We hope to work some folks from our club!

      73,

      Fred, AB1OC/M

Jamey Finchum, KC1ENX joined us yesterday for another activation of Acadia National Park. Despite difficult band conditions, we were able to make almost 350 additional contacts in the park yesterday. Most were made with our club call sign, N1FD giving our club credit for activating another park.

        73,
