This is our new weekly net held in the afternoon while the band is open. Conditions were excellent this afternoon. We had check-ins from AR, AZ, CA, IA, MA, NH, OR, SD and TX. Not everyone could hear everyone, but many could hear many and all had a chance to see if they could make QSOs with the visiting check-ins. Thanks to all for joining in.

Our question of the day was “Have you been able to make QSOs to new parts of the world in recent weeks due to improved propagation?” Many reported that indeed they have had better results. Our check-ins experienced ranged from less than a year to 60 and 66 years.

One station from CA was QRP 10 watts and one in NH was running an attic antenna with 18 watts.  N5PRA in AR was the strongest signal to me, and he was able to make QSOs with several of the other check-ins.

I began the net for pre-net check-ins at 2:45 to stake my claim to the frequency and put a spot for us on the cluster. Towards the end there was QRM from Brazil, they couldn’t hear us so there was a little interference from them, but we were able to continue.

Most signals were stronger in the beginning of the net, then we all took a dip in strength at the end.

We look forward to hearing you on the net next week.

    73,

    Jon AC1EV

That sounded like fun!  Of the non-skip stations, now is the potential propagation north to the Lakes Region.  I may have my doubts.
