We are finally planning to resume our favorite travel sport – National Parks. We plan to spend enough time to set up and operate at each park and we are looking for a mobile antenna that packs away compactly, is durable and covers as many bands as possible with good efficiency (our travel transceiver is an Icom-705). We have been looking at the Alpha Antennas Hextenna. Any suggestions/advice?
I am particularly fond of my TN07 Mast which covers all bands (with a basic tuner required for some). The mast collapses to about 4 feet long and you can mount it to a drive-on baseplate or a hitchmount. The cool thing about the mast is the radiating element is kept inside, not outside.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Sounds worth checking out. Any idea how efficient it is on any of the HF bands? Also, any idea about supplier(s)?

The Wolf River Coil SB-1000 covers all of our favorite bands. Packs into a small bag. It can be set up on its own tripod, extended to make it a center load, or mounted on a vehicle. I’ve also used it on a 15’ mast. It does require some radials. With the two collars, you can set it for your two favorite bands using an antenna analyzer of a Nano VNA and be able to make easy band changes. And they are inexpensive compared to others and are made here in the USA. http://WWW.Wolfrivercoils.com
