Does anyone have access to or know any local electricians who have an earth ground resistance meter?

Before I start pounding a bunch of rods into the ground, I would like to find out what my values are.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Ground Conductivity in this area isn’t that great. Take a look at the FCC’s Ground Conductivity Map.

Thanks for the link. I agree, it doesn’t look great for our area.

So… does anyone know of an available local earth ground resistance meter ?

Most electricians carry a Megger. You don’t want a resistance between your house electrical ground and your station ground.

Motorola R56 Site Standards for Light Duty Type “A” sites shall have a grounding (earthing) electrode system resistance design goal of 25 ohms or less for a single grounding electrode (NFPA 70-2005, Article 250.56; MIL-HDBK-419A, section, 5 ohms or less for a “Standard Duty “Type B” site.
        2.2.2.1). See Section 4 and 5 of
        https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files/Lands_ROW_Motorola_R56_2005_manual.pdf

Here’s an excerpt from Megger: “The Megger DET14C and DET24C ground resistance clamp testers represent a new generation of earth/ground clamp-on resistance testers. These instruments induce a test current into earth systems and measure ground resistance in multi-ground installations without needing to disconnect the ground.”
