      Hi,

I went through the procedure to get LOTW set up (postcard, etc).  Then I made a bunch of contacts on a random 40m CW contest with Canadian operators, thinking that contest types, especially polite Canadian ones, would be the ones most likely to log with computers and upload their contacts to sites like LOTW.  No QSOs were confirmed from that session.  Now I see I am finally getting some confirmed QSOs (see attached photo) but almost all of them are taking months to see confirmations, whereas I’d think it’d be a few days worse case.  Is this just because people don’t upload their logs very often?

      Regards,
      Dave

Pretty typical as far as I’m concerned.

Thanks, Alan.  Good to know that my results are in line with expectations.  I suppose hams just don’t make the time to upload their logs very often.

Yes, and some use eQSL or other services, and some use only paper.  Some will initiate sending a QSL card, some will only respond if you initiate it with a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope).

            Hi Dave,

The time between LoTW uploads varies a lot among Hams. Folks who operate using the digital modes probably upload most frequently. Also, bands at the ends of the spectrum (i.e. 160m and 6m and higher) tend to be confirmed more easily as contacts on these bands are more likely to be more difficult and somewhat special for many folks. DX’ers are also pretty avid LoTW users.

If you use a computer logging program like DXlab or Ham Radio Deluxe, it’s pretty easy to set up the logging program to make it easy to upload and download confirmations every time that you operate. This is what Anita and I do here.

Here are some confirmation stats from my log to give you a feel of what to expect:

Total QSOs in AB1OC Main Log: 96,311 (combined additional logs are similar)

Dave, I should have mentioned I’m running about 50% confirmations.
