N1IMO isn’t responding from my iPhone or the EchoHam app on the Mac either. Direct connect EtherNet to router and Comcast. Can connect to a local W1GLO no problems
November 30, 2020 at 8:08 pm #98995Hello,
Curious if there was any progress with this? One of my friends and fellow ham just connected on his android phone without issue, but I am still getting a timeout error on my iPhone.
Thanks!

December 29, 2020 at 6:08 pm #103951Just tried from an iPhone 8 and also got a time out messag for N1IMO-R, Node 336966, carrier is AT&T. Echotest worked.

December 30, 2020 at 6:51 am #104063Apparently, the N1IMO-R implementation can only support Echolink connections from Windows desktop computers. Connections from iPhones and iPad do not work.
December 30, 2020 at 6:28 pm #104187Thanks Fred.
I spun up a VM Win10 machine today and was able to connect just fine with EchoLink.
It’s too bad it doesn’t work with iOS. Hopefully some updated software will be pushed out to the repeater in the future to make it work.
December 31, 2020 at 9:13 am #104297Very odd. Something has changed. I do not use Echolink that much but I certainly HAVE used it with N1IMO in the past.
January 2, 2021 at 5:08 pm #104725I’m with Burns, I have successfully used EchoLink on N1IMO-R in the past.
in other news, just saw that a new version of the EchoLink app is now available in the App Store (v 2.14.22). Unfortunately this does not resolve the connection timeout issue.
January 3, 2021 at 9:59 am #104868Note the distinction between using EchoLink from an iPhone or iPad TO THE NIMO-R network vs. a PC or any other device to access N1IMO-R.
The iPhone/iPad to N1IMO-R cases have never worked and won’t without a significant rework of the network’s IP system. The PC and non-apple mobile devices should work fine
Echotest does not directly involve the N1IMO-R system and is not the issue here.
January 3, 2021 at 12:31 pm #104885Certainly echotest checks only the user’s EchoLink installation and the network connection (local firewalls etc). But I have definitely successfully connected to and used N1IMO over iPhone Echolink in the past, so *never worked* is not correct.
Given the penchant of the iPhone to upgrade versions frequently, I’d guess that the iPhone app changed in some incompatible way with whatever version is on N1IMO (maybe older?). It will be interesting to see if Android and PC versions eventually stop working as upgraded code gets migrated to them, or if it is forever an iPhone-only bug.
N1IMO does an enormous amount for the local ham community and for our club in particular, so we should not push them too hard if at all. Upgrading a big and probably complex system of internet-linked repeaters is way different from upgrading an iPhone.
