Folks,
One thing that we’d appreciate all of our members to do is to add your picture to our website. This helps other members know who we are.
- Adding your picture to our site is easy. Just do the following:
- Logon to your account on our site via MEMBER LOGON
- After you logon, click on your name in the MEMBER LOGIN section
- Now click on EDIT
- Scroll down to the AVATAR section and click on the pencil icon
- Upload and crop your image and the save your profile
That’s all there is to it!
Thanks!
December 10, 2020 at 6:06 pm #99817Seems like there is a small file size and pixel size limit (40kb)…at least for me. Am I missing something or doing it wrong?
December 10, 2020 at 6:08 pm #99832Yes, there is a small file size limit on avatar photos. This is because they are used as icons in many places on our website.
December 10, 2020 at 6:24 pm #99835I discovered the same limitation: I took the photo i had, cropped it down, and then in MS Paint re-sized it and then saved as JPG to get the file size down. Resultant image got distorted and it looks like i have a really wide face !
December 12, 2020 at 6:46 pm #100326yes I tried to add a photo several months ago and ran into the issue of the file size.
No matter what i did with my phone and no matter how i cropped it i was still over the 40 kb limit. I’ll try playing around with MS paint if that’s the hot setup?

Had same problem on IPad. A few additional bits of info. On Android devices swipe across photo and it should give size (JB/Mb, etc) and pixel dimensions. If does not work, AND on IOS devices, download “Google Photos” app onto device. With this app open, select photo, then select the 3 dots “..,” on far top right. That will show the file size and hor/vert pixel size. Then, you can edit in Google Photo OR Android/IOS app to resize, and iterate sequence until photo fits your needs. if photo meets size and pixel limits set by NARS, the photo appears in top left hand corner of Avatar photo window. Now, click on it to display a window overlay screen (semitransparent) and adjust to see what will actually be shown as Avatar photo. My photo, even though below max file and pixel sizes was further cropped down by this overlay window! If overlay screen is not visible, click on various aspects of photo, corner highlight, small squarish block (mine was in lower right hand corner), etc.) until overlay appears. Adjust until satisfied. This last part I did not figure out until I realized my displayed Avatar photo was a “tiny” block of color from just a few pixels of the photo, at which point I maxxed out the overlay window allowing me to use ~95% of selected photo. Note: the Google Photo app forced me to allow access to all photos despite available option for “selected photos”? Also click off “backup” option if you don’t want Google backup (I did not) of your photos. There other apps as well … but this one worked fairly easily.
