Basic WordPress CMS Architecture[/caption]Hello Everyone,
We are doing some work on n1d.org to speed it up and enhance our ability to scale. The first phase of this work was a major internal cleanup that took place today. We would like to get your feedback on a few points:
- Is there anything that is “broken” or not working correctly?
- While performance is not the main focus of the first step, there should be some improvement in specific areas of the site. Let us know if you notice any difference in how fast the site performs.
Please email us at with any feedback that you might have. We will be implementing the next phase of our upgrade project in the near future.
February 12, 2021 at 9:09 pm #112680We are continuing to apply small improvements and cleanups in preparation for moving our site to a new set of higher scale servers. We are mostly looking for anything that may have “broken” as part of our recent changes.
If you see anything that appears to have been broken, please email us at . Be sure to include the URL that you had a problem with as well as the details on what happened and how you got to the page/content where the problem occurred.
February 13, 2021 at 9:35 am #112699We will be migrating our website to new servers sometime this morning. We recommend that you do not create any new content (i.e. Blog posts, forum topics or replies, comments, etc.) until the migration is complete. We will post here as soon as the migration is done and n1fd.org is stable.
February 13, 2021 at 7:49 pm #112727We have migrated n1fd.org to new servers and the site is running OK and is a bit faster now.
We are still working on some transition issues and we recommend that you hold off creating any new posts on our blog or in our forums until we are done with the transition. We hope to be complete with these steps by sometime tomorrow. We will post an updates here as we go.
February 14, 2021 at 2:41 pm #112769Our website is fully moved to a new set of faster servers and it is now stable. We had to disable the functionality that marks posts in our forums as unread so you do not need to report that this functionality has changed.
Everything else on the site should be working as it was before the move and it’s OK to post new content again.
Please report any new problems that you feel are related to the server moves to .
Thanks, everyone for your patience during our move.
February 14, 2021 at 2:50 pm #112773Our website makes use of browser caching to deliver the best possible experience to our users. As a result of the move, your web browser may have some old, stale data from our previous servers. If you see any problems when browsing n1fd.org, please take a minute to clear your browser cache and try the page again. This will often clear up temporary problems.
You will find tools to clear your browser cache in different places depending on the specific browser that you are using. The best way to find them is to google “Clear browser cache in <your browser’s name here>”. For example, if you use Chrome, google “Clear browser cache in Chrome” to find out how to clear your cache.
February 14, 2021 at 6:05 pm #112832The icons that indicate which posts you have read are back as are the buttons to mark everything as read.
February 16, 2021 at 2:07 pm #112954We are continuing with the upgrade process on n1fd.org today. We are again asking that you do not create any new content (i.e. Blog posts, forum topics or replies, comments, etc.) until the current work is complete. We will post here as soon as it is OK to create new content again.
February 16, 2021 at 3:35 pm #112955The latest round of upgrades is now complete and it’s OK to create content on n1fd.org again. Create away!
