Had some time today to work on some improvements for our Portable Satellite Station 2.0. One thing that we learned during the initial trial of the station at our Tech License class a few weeks ago was that we needed a way to get the antenna system further from the building where the Transceiver was located. We figured that about 100 ft of separation would be ideal. After some loss calculations at 430 Mhz (70cm), I concluded that the best bet would be a couple of lengths of 7/8″ hardline. These are now in hand, N-connectors installed, checked out and ready to go.

The only remaining thing needed to enable the 100 ft of separation between the antenna system and the rest of the station was extensions for the three antenna system control cables so I spent some time making these up this afternoon.
Now all we need is some better weather to try the setup out again….
