Several members of NARS have the ICOM 7300 transceiver.  I had the opportunity to use one at the NARS Field Day a couple years ago.  I was impressed with how easy the learning curve was for an old knob-spinner like me.  Its excellent phase noise performance made operating with other in-band stations at the site a relaxing experience.  (Ok, so they were using the 7300 as well so signals were squeaky-clean.)

One of the folks in the local contest club down here posted a link to an ICOM 7300 Resource Page.  Maintained by G3NRW, it is a handy site to delve into the many options that software control provides.  What comes to my mind is setting up the rig for each mode you operate and selecting it with a button push.  You can also optimize settings for contest modes so you don’t need to panic when syncing with N1MM+ before a contest.

Give it a try at http://www.g3nrw.net/IC-7300
