I’m having a problem that I need some help with. I’ve finally gotten my station all set up; the only thing is… it doesn’t work! To be specific, I can’t receive anything but static on every frequency on every band. My transceiver is a new IC-7300. I first was using a vertical antenna, then I switched to a dipole; but I got the same results on both: just static. I also tried just a single long wire… same result. I don’t know what else to try except just sending it back to the factory and have them check it out.
Can anyone suggest anything to try? Any help at all will be deeply appreciated. Even a wild suggestion; I’ll try almost anything!
Thanks in advance. And Merry Christmas to all!
Paul
Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about the problems with your new station. One thing that might be helpful to confirm where the problem is – can you find a local Ham who might bring a known good radio to your QTH to try with your antennas? That would tell you for sure where the problem is.
Paul,
Don’t know if it will help, but I have an ICOM-7300 and had a problem with all static. I reread the instructions and found that I had fat fingered one of the TFT ( touch for tuning) and had it on CW, not SSB. To correct that : On the touch screen just to the right of the Tune/ TX , you will see a place where it would say SSB, CW, RTTY tec. If you touch this it will bring up a screen so that you can select SSB, CW, RTTY, et . Then select TX or USB,. Hope this helps.
Thank you,
