      Found a Heathkit SA-2040 tuner in a dumpster this Saturday.[attachment file=”84543″]

      Anybody have advice on

      a) how to test if it is any good and

      b) a procedure to use it?

I hooked it up to my nano vna and expected to walk the cursor around the smith chart.  Looks to be a short on input.  A DMM finds the capacitor rotor shaft grounded to chassis with inductor disconnected.  Doesn’t seem right. I think it is supposed to have non-conductive extension shafts but this one has metal shafts.
