I live in Yulee Fl (EM90fo).

NARS weekly 10m chat net on Sunday at 20:30 transmits on 28,480MHz.

Should I be able to hear it?

My Airspy HF+ Discovery SDR receiver with SDR# on my laptop showed

only noise around that frequency on the spectrum/waterfall.

Before I start checking possible problems, the first question to answer is

should I be able to receive it at all.

      Thank you.

      Hi James,

probably not going to hear us.  I’m one of the net control stations.  I use a dipole and 100w only.

ab1oc the other NCS has legal limit with beam antennas, but he typically doesn’t use that for net control ops, so to reach a broader audience.  If Fred switches to the beam and rubs power, it is much more likely you’ll hear Fred.

sorry, but 10 has been a tough band the past several years for DX.

        Hello James,

Craig covered this well. We are near the bottom of the sunspot cycle right now so propagation on the 10m Band is difficult at best. The best time for opening is during the May/June/July E-skip season which is still a ways off.

As we get further into the coming new sunspot cycle, propagation will get better and you should be able to participate from FL.

          Thanks for the replys.

Wikipedia article on 10m propagation dashed my hopes; your replies confirmed it.

My last hope is locating a web radio in NH area.

As a last resort I’ll just wait for Mr Sol to wake up.

By then maybe my trees will be big enough to throw a wire around a limb.

          Good luck and stay safe.
