Contests are a great opportunity for you to find Countries that you need confirmed in your log to use towards DXCC Awards. You can use N1MM+ Logger to log your contest calls and submit the results for the contest per the instructions in the rules. Next you can export the contest log into an adif file and import it into QRZ or LOTW. There are two great advantages with chasing DX countries in a contest. The first is that they are on the air and are looking for you. The second is that they are most likely to confirm their contacts, so you can use the QSO to qualify for an award.

Technicians can participate! The 10-meter band is often open with many stations calling and listening. You can operate in the lower section of the phone section of the band between 28.300 Mhz and 28.500 Mhz. Many powerful stations will be calling, and they would love to make a contact with you. Your 100-Watt station with a wire antenna can be heard by their stacked Yagi’s pointing to NA. Don’t miss this chance for new DX.

The attached file is a guide I created for my own contest efforts and gives you an idea when and where you are likely to be successful on 10 meters this weekend. Take a look at it and hopefully it will help you get new DX QSOs into your log.
